In the article, “What is Success?
Here’s a Better Definition,” Geoffrey James explains that success can be best defined by the amount of happiness in your life, rather than the amount of
money. Most people tend to fall mercy to the misconception that happiness can
be best gauged by how successful you have been financially in the past month, year,
or lifetime for that matter. Contrary to these perceptions, when you take away all
of the physical aspects of life – the cars, the house, the showcase wife, the
perks – the only thing left is your Zen. How happy are you really when you cut out all of the extras? While I do believe it’s possible to be both rich and happy, there will come a time when the cars get garaged, the wife goes to bed, the
perks run out, and the fame falls off . Only then will you begin to realize how much of a success your life has been, or if your material needs have been stealing the show. I define success as the amount of forward steps taken from
square one vs the level of happiness at the present point – poor or rich, big
or small – in the end your Zen will define you.
Through the sand we carve, searching for happiness - for success.

Really good. I like the part about your zen finding you...something for all the searchers to keep in mind.//lm
